Proverb 1:22

“How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple?
How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge?”

Wisdom persuades us to think deeply.

The New Oxford American Dictionary defines simple as “composed of a single element; not compound.”

We can be so superficial, lacking depth. We settle for simplicity, and fail to explore the depth and breadth of our existence and our world. Though we are equipped with tools like the Bible a brain and the Holy Spirit to steer us through the layers, we grow complacent with familiarity and settle on the surface.

In so doing, we stifle our growth and our potential.

But we have been given eyes to see and ears to hear; that we may gain and obtain knowledge! Our sight and our hearing validate our experiences which lay a foundation for the knowledge we acquire.

When will you stop scoffing at those who seek to increase their understanding? Challenge yourself to deeper thoughts, build upon the foundation of your beliefs and utilize the incredible, sound mind that was entrusted to you.

Build. Create. Imagine. Question. Solve. Delineate. Communicate.

It’s time to do away with generalizations. Cease simple thoughts and embrace complexities.
