Proverb 3:6
“In all your ways acknowledge Him
And He shall direct your path.”
“In all your ways—the way you talk, where you go, how you treat people, the thoughts you think, the choices you make, all of the mindless things we do day in and day out, in all your ways—”acknowledge Him.”
When was the last time, you said a silent prayer, considering Him before you spoke? Not just before a big speech, or something where you “needed” him to give you words. But the small things, like when your boss ticks you off. Do you acknowledge Him before you speak to your cohorts?
The last outing you made, did you utter words of acknowledgment to your Father? Did you let Him know that you were aware of the fact that that outing belonged to him even though you had plans to tend to and tasks to accomplish on it? Or do you merely seek his safety before a long-distance road trip? Did you consider the people he had divinely set to wait for your arrival at “your” destination?
Do you acknowledge him as you scroll through your social media feed and a loved one (how dare they?) interrupts you to ask a sincere question? Do you consider Him before your reply? Or do you robotically offer your loved one an answer without acknowledging their presence; eyes glued to glowing screen, feeding technological addiction? If we don’t acknowledge him, we will never appropriately acknowledge others.
Have you talked with him regarding your thoughts? Have you asked him to influence them for the better? Have you spent a moment brainstorming with the creator of the universe? Did you know that you can?!
Not only are you able to, here’s what will result:
“He shall direct your paths.”
There are a lot of lost, confused, overwhelmed, uncertain and seemingly hopeless people out there, simply trying to find their steps ByTheWay. That is a task far too daunting for any one person. We have this innate need and desire, though we tune it out, to depend on and lean on another.
God is that rock, our steady source of presence who will give the direction we need and provide the guidance we are in search of.
It’s a simple matter of acknowledging him in all of our ways.
