Proverb 3:27

“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
When it is in the power of your hand to do so.”

God is glorified when we rightly do good unto others. The flesh will want to fight off any good word or deed when it is infected with jealousy, pride or the like. It’s the enemy’s tactic to keep me from being a productive member of the body. He will use my unwillingness to also infect others.

Based on the latter portion of the verse, it’s assumed that I’m given specified opportunities to offer the good that is due unto another. If I instead withhold the good, there’s a good chance that they won’t receive the word they need–the word God is asking on me to deliver.

Aside from my selfish attributes like pride and jealously, I will also be bent toward procrastination and second-guesses. But there may only be a short window of time in which I am capable of doing the good that God has placed on my heart for someone else.

He wants to use me for the good of others. It is for His glorification. Don’t withhold this gift and opportunity. When God impresses it upon your heart to offer a kind word to someone, to offer them a service, to support their endeavors, to simply make their day, jump at the opportunity.

Don’t fall into the traps of the enemy of grumbling about others when they are in need of goodness. My flesh again will want to look for the flaws in them to cover up my own. Be reminded, “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good for necessary edification.” (Ephesians 4:29). I am part of a much bigger body than your own. Protect it and treat as you would the limbs and extremities on your own physical body.
