Proverb 3:26
“For the Lord will be your confidence,
And will keep your foot from being caught.”
There is nothing you can do to either prevent wickedness or overcome the temptation to cave to fear in the face of evil sieges. But as you are pursued by wickedness and sudden terrors the Lord will be your confidence. You can stand firm in his protection, trust his instruction and endure under his authority.
You need not fear. For He permits evil for the sake of your good. As you learn to rely on Him—even in the midst of an attack—he will take what the enemy intends for your harm and turn it into good. All for His glory.
Because, you see, all these attacks…they’re nothing but traps the enemy has laid to use you as a foothold; though he will make it seem as though he’s offering you the foothold. He always uses the theme of self-elevation to deceive. His plan will indefinitely be to destroy while elevating himself, with the higher hope of destroying our Lord. Don’t let him use you for his evil purposes. He has laid his trap with intent to do you harm; and if he has the pleasure of catching your foot therein, he will scheme to destroy you as you wail in agony.
The Lord will keep your foot from being caught if your confidence is in Him. But even if you do have the misfortune of falling prey to these malicious traps and God’s grace sets you free to continue on the path of understanding, your progress will be delayed. Be mindful of the traps the enemy has laid. Don’t fear them, but be aware of them. Don’t stop walking in fear that your foot may be caught. But place your confidence in the one who will steer you from their danger and free you lest you get caught. And in that confidence place one foot boldly in front of the other.
