Proverb 2:1
“My son, if you receive my words
and treasure up my commandments with you,”
Her words are our treasure. Not only must we turn our ear to them. We must treasure them!
This brings to mind the things that I treasure. If you want to know, take me on a trip away from home. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve carried an extra bag, just for my treasured items.
What used to be filled with my favorite doll, a stack of books, a couple of key chains, and Lisa Frank accessories, still contains a stack of my favorite books. But my treasures have outgrown their home and require a case of their own: my camera, my guitar my computer and my journal. Needless to say, I’m not a light traveler.
But I treasure these items. They go on every extended trip with me because they allow me to explore the stories of this world: people, nature, architecture, beauty, moments in time. They give me the space to create and tell a story on the empty pages that reveal my life as it unfolds.
They give me joy.
I keep them near.
I protect them with cushioned cases.
I clean them.
I utilize them.
I carry them with me.
If that is what treasuring something looks like, can I say the same for the words of Wisdom and her commandments?
