Episode 9: What is the meaning and purpose of education? Today, Leah reflects on what she’s been learning about the Latin term Educare, peeks into a scene from the novel Jane Eyre, and turns to some Ancient Lore to answer these questions. She also shares about some of her own educational aspirations.

“We are all students and we’re all called to higher education and I don’t mean that in the sense of a degree. I mean that in the sense we are to be in pursuit of a better version of ourselves and we can’t accomplish that without first being educated. Without first taking a look inside of ourselves and drawing out from within that which subconsciously we already know to be true about ourselves.”

Episode 8: In part two of Safe Practices, Leah contrasts the potentially dangerous things we do every day with the everyday things we claim need to be “safely” done.

“We are creating more and more environments for danger to thrive…all the while we’re concocting these catch phrases to make us feel safe. But It’s like taking a placebo. It may make us think we’re feeling better, but if there’s an underlying condition, it will never address that condition.”

Episode 7: In today’s episode of Reflections, Leah questions the various ways we are encouraged to “be safe”. What do we mean by this expression and why has it become so prevalent in our society?

“Somehow, somewhere along the line, this phrase has become more like a salutation–I feel like we use it all the time–and we offer it like premature condolences to normal activities.”

Episode 6: In reflecting on her personal state at the end of 2020 Leah rants about nostalgia, commercialism, New Year’s resolutions and her changing perspective on traditional celebrations.

“What if I shift my resolutions this year–instead of setting new year’s resolutions, what if I set new Year’s perspectives? So that I can change the way I view myself and improve my soul, change the way I think, soften my heart, rather than becoming a ‘better person’, or better at something, or achieving something.”

Episode 5: Do you really want Jesus to take the wheel? Leah suggests in her Reflections today that we should give him the back seat, instead.

“I don’t think I want God to have control of my car. I don’t think He wants to be in control of my car. I think He’s handed that will over to us, so that we choose where we’re taking the car…I don’t think it’s disrespectful at all to say, ‘hey God, get in the back seat.”

Episode 4: Leah Reflects on her Simple Pleasures: from smoking a cigar, to the recording of this episode, she recognizes the joys that come from relishing in the small things.

“So much of what we do today, to give us that dose of joy, is filling our space with things–I’m learning how to find joy in things that cost me absolutely nothing, except for a little bit of time; how much more valuable that investment is than things that I can exchange money for.”

Episode 3: Leah shares her Reflections on State of Confusion & Clarity of Mind. She takes a broad look at our confused society in 2020 and then magnifies her own personal experience with clouded thoughts and how she works them out to clarity.

“So I have to do the work to replace those thoughts with something healthy for my mind. With something that fuels my mind. That activates the peace and soundness of mind.”

Episode 2: Learn how Leah’s mom has been an influence on her journey and insights on how to keep a positive outlook.

“Life is a journey and you do life daily. You can’t get away from it, you have to do it. Giving up is not an option.” – Mom

Episode 1: Leah talks to her dad about the vision of Stories ByTheWay and shares a little bit of her own story.

“It’s the journey of people⏤their insides, their souls, who they are. What sometimes people don’t share in the open, you try to pull out. And I believe you do that because of the things that are inside you.” – Dad

Introductory Episode: Leah shares a margarita with her best friend. This episode explores their journey to self-discovery, struggles with depression and the gift of their friendship to one another.

“I believe that God gives us passions very purposefully and gifts very purposefully…if we are paying attention we can see that our passions and our gifts align.” – Cara
