These Hands belong to a pioneer in the printing industry—among the first to introduce lithography to Fresno, CA with their distinguished work in color separations. Prior to launching a career, in 1956, they enlisted in the Navy and grazed the seas in service to our country aboard the USS Boxer. Upon returning to civilian life, they took on the trade of their father, spending hours in the darkroom, dipped in cyanide. They had a small start from a garage, but their work was dedicated, persistent and later evolved into the local business Central Color Graphics.
They endured many highs and lows but became known for their skill at producing advertisements, business cards, VHS sleeves and reproductions for paintings. They were even hired to commemorate Disneyland’s 45th anniversary in print. In 1992, These Hands were honored with the Horizon Award for their work in Graphic Arts in Fresno County.
Outside of work, they piloted friends and family on short getaway flights in a Bonanza. They carry memories of smooth flights and shaky landings. Today, they are dedicated to their study of the Bible. They enjoy spending moments with their wife of 49 years and offer frequent prayers of gratitude. These Hands take enjoyment in little things like ice cream, the ocean and making people laugh. They have been called loyal, honest and kind. Though they have printed many stories for others, These Hands tell a story of their own.
They are the hands of The Lithographer.
